MTB Route planning application

Cycling reduces emissions by more than 16 million tonnes of CO2 per year in the EU and contributes to a healthier life. The ESA-backed Beinn Bike project uses GNSS and EO satellite data allowing cyclists to find new routes based on their time available or knowledge of an area, thus promoting cycling activities.

Platform connecting local vendors and tourists

LocalB encourages tourists to ‘be local’ by connecting them directly and dynamically with vendors where they are visiting. Through a common platform, vendors can dynamically advertise products and services directly to the tourist consumer, indicating location, distance, price and a number of other factors. LocalB is reliant on GNSS services to operate and will evolve to meet the dynamic needs of vendors and travellers, both spatially and temporally.

Temperature Indexes Life Quality for the Ageing Population

From 1998–2017, heatwaves caused over 166 000 deaths, including more than 70 000 during the 2003 heat in Europe. The TILQ-AP platform uses satellite data to create near-real time temperature distribution maps providing a better understanding of ‘heat islands’ in cities.

A more comprehensive picture of the maritime situation, allowing Coast Guard and Navy to spot abnormal activities or emergency states

SeaSearch is a powerful tool to assist investigation near shores of Navy, Coast Guards and Lighthouse Authority regarding suspicious behaviour of vessels and people on-board. Sea Search uses dual polarization data from the Sentinel-1 satellites. By bringing together mobile detections, AIS and SAR vessel detections, it provides a platform for monitoring and tracking abnormal activity at sea.
