Space-based services for migration prevention and management
In 2020, 82.4 million people around the world were forced from their homes. The ESA-backed BIGMIG project based on EO (Earth Observation) and GNSS capabilities enables NGOs to monitor migration routes and detect early warning of humanitarian crises, facilitating the prevention and management of forced migration.

Global transparency of agricultural crop production
In India, 70% of rural households depend primarily on agriculture for their livelihood, with 82% of farmers being small and marginal. The ESA-backed AG|knowledge 4.0 project uses remote sensing satellite data from Copernicus, weather satellites and GNSS technologies to provide integrated analytical services and indicators for agricultural risk monitoring.
Micro renewable grid for rural indian areas
Around 30 million people in India did not have access to electricity in 2019. ESA-sponsored MOWGLI aims to use EO, telecommunication and navigation satellite technologies to optimise microgrid life cycles, enhancing access to electricity and renewable energy sources in rural India.
