Ongoing worldwide trends such as intensified global traffic of people and goods, climate change and changing land development patterns increase the risk for the introduction, establishment and/or spread of diseases. Of these, vector-borne diseases (i.e. diseases transmitted by mosquitoes, ticks, etc.) are prime candidates due to their strong link with the environment and the ability to expand rapidly across natural boundaries.

VECMAP CCN#3 will design, develop, test and demonstrate SmartSenZ®, a set of mosquitos monitoring services entirely geared to the needs of the hospitality sector. SmartSenZ services will allow luxury tropical resorts to include state-of-the-art and environmentally friendly mosquito monitoring and control activities as part of their daily tasks. This is expected to greatly reduce the risks of mosquito-borne disease transmission to the resort guests.
