GTIF: Cerulean Information Factory (CIF)
Arctic sea ice is shrinking at a rate of about 13% per decade, and the region has warmed nearly four times faster than the global average over the past 40 years. The Cerulean Information Factory addresses the rapid loss of Arctic sea ice by providing EO-based services that support low-carbon shipping, offshore renewable energy, and sustainable aquaculture, helping stakeholders adapt to and mitigate climate impacts.

The Cerulean Information Factory (CIF) is part of the GTIF Kick-Starter initiative and focuses on developing innovative Earth Observation-based services for Arctic and North Atlantic coastal waters—specifically around Canada, Greenland, and Northern Europe.
The project delivers three core capabilities:
-
Support for offshore renewable energy,
-
Monitoring and planning for aquaculture,
-
Optimized, low-carbon Arctic ship routing based on sea ice conditions.
