Space-Enabled Energy Network (SEEN) aims to offer services along the biomethane value chain, which includes capturing, processing, storing and distribution, targeting both supply and demand side customers. Supply side customers include landowners/businesses with significant grasslands and farms that can use waste from their day-to-day business operations to generate additional value by capturing, processing, storing and distributing their biomethane. Demand side customers include farms, grasslands and communities that benefit from biomethane-powered electric vehicle charging stations under development. SEEN plans to demonstrate an energy network, which is based on IoT-enabled infrastructure that communicates biomethane supply and demand across the network and integrates several space assets: satellite positioning to track mobile assets like biomethane tanks and a processing plant, satellite communication as backup for terrestrial communications and Earth observation-based methane prospecting and yield optimization to provide customized grass cutting regimes that maximize methane yield.
