Remote sensing of methane plumes from EnMAP observations

The project focuses on the detection of localized methane sources with EnMAP (Environmental Mapping and Analysis Program). Its goal is a comprehensive analysis of existing methane retrieval techniques and the development of a pre-operational retrieval combining currently employed target detection algorithms with physics-based methane retrieval methods. Recent HySpex observations of methane sources in the Upper Silesian Coal Basin in southern Poland serve as reference datasets and basis for synthetic EnMAP products. As such, the project continues recent research on the detectability of localized methane sources e.g. with HySpex.
