Worldwide tracking and environmental monitoring by satellites
The ARGOS-INSIDE project aims to bring new perspectives to the 40 years old satellite based ARGOS system with the emergence of IoT and its forecasted rapid extension at a global scale. The service mainly targets three domains: artisanal fishing, humanitarian aids, and container shipping. The service uses satellite EO, communication and navigation technologies.
Mutli-mission data and information service for Arctic operations
The MULDIARCOS service aims at providing a common easy-to-use interface allowing access to satellite imagery and met-ocean information in order to improve maritime operations in the Arctic environment. The service mainly targets the offshore oil and gas industry as well as the commercial shipping sector represented by the cruise operators. The service uses EO data as well as satellite telecommunications and satellite navigation technologies.
Accelerating insect-based protein production
The Entocycle service aims at developing a smart factory for industrial scale production of insect-protein through the integration of IoT systems that allow for the control and optimisation of the production lifecycle and the development of a fluid, automated process and infrastructure. Main users are insect-protein producers. Space technologies and assets identified within Human Spaceflight and Earth Observation applications allow to benefit from the interoperability of different IoT systems, creating a smart process.
Enhanced multi-sensor data handler for railways
Mapping whales from space
Each year, an estimated 300 000 whales and dolphins are killed as a result of fisheries bycatch. ESA-backed SPACEWHALE integrates analytical techniques and satellite imaging technologies to improve the detection and monitoring of large whales in the open ocean and support wildlife conservation.

Space-related health care service for the elderly
Cardiovascular diseases are causing an estimated 17.9 million deaths each year. The ESA-coordinated NaturAgeing project relies on the use of navigation and EO satellite data to promote outdoor physical activities for seniors, preventing poor cardiovascular health, osteoporosis and sleep deprivation.
