The ForCC demonstration project aims to develop and implement a cost effective and timely remote sensing-based system that facilitates the development of Sustainable Forest Management (SFM) forest carbon offset measurement for existing forests in Europe to support Voluntary Carbon Markets (VCM). It offers transparent criteria for carbon offset verification through data analytics and carbon accounting, increasing the credibility of VCM. To achieve alignment with regional forest management and climate change mitigation goals, stakeholders must be engaged, and policy support must be provided, which in turn promotes environmental conservation and sustainable land use.
