Space for Health
While ESA is immediately associated to the development of typical space technologies and services (e.g. satellites, spacecraft, launchers), ESA has also gained some significant knowledge and experience in other topics. Over the last 20 years, ESA has built a solid background and expertise in the challenging domain of Health. This includes Telemedicine, medical technologies (e.g. monitoring, imaging) and health-related services (e.g. epidemiology) for the benefits of both astronauts (on the ground and in space) as well as populations on Earth. The Space for Health (S4H) initiative aims at creating awareness about health-related activities, as well as coordinate initiatives between different stakeholders, both inside and outside ESA. The Space4Health initiative is internally supported by the ESA Health Coordination Forum, which involves representatives from the EOP, HRE, TEC and TIA directorates.
