Synthetic 4D weather forecasting radar with a smart route advisor

The Meandair service aims at providing pilots with safe flight trajectories allowing to navigate around bad weather in order to prevent weather-related accidents and incidents in general aviation due to inadvertent flight into adverse weather conditions. The target user groups of the Meandair service are general aviation (GA) pilots flying long distances for both leisure and business purposes. The service relies on several space assets: satellite communications networks facilitating communication between the computational cluster and the aircraft; GNSS providing aircraft’s actual position to the Meandair client front-end; and Earth observation meteorological satellite weather data allowing to locate adverse weather and aggregate it into an accurate space-time atmospheric model.
