Presence monitoring for optimal wildlife and human cohabitation

The COHABIT service aims at securing the safe and environmental friendly coexistence between big carnivore/omnivore animals and humans in wilderness areas but also at fostering the interests of all involved actors, be it Wilderness Organisations and Parks for wildlife conservation, Visitors for safe wandering natural parks and Farmers for optimal protection of their livestock and crops. The service targets two complementary actors, namely the Wilderness Organisation/Wilderness Parks, together with the visitors to and farmers of wilderness areas. COHABIT principally makes use of two types of space assets: satellite navigation (GNSS) in order to provide the geo-localisation of several assets; and satellite communication in order to allow communication when and where no cell coverage is available.
