GTIF –UKIF (UK-Ireland-France)
The European Union has committed to achieving carbon neutrality by 2050, with an interim target of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 55% by 2030 compared to 1990 levels. The UKIF project supports the EU’s carbon neutrality goals by developing advanced EO-based capabilities to provide real-time, data-driven insights for decision-making across key green transition areas.

UKIF (UK-Ireland-France) is a 24-month Green Transition Information Factory (GTIF) project launched in March 2024.
The project aims to develop and operationalise five advanced EO-based capabilities to support decision-making for the green transition:

GTIF UKIF aims to build a flexible, cloud-based EO analytics platform to support evidence-based policy and environmental monitoring in domains ranging from renewable energy planning to pollution tracking. The integration of AI (e.g. SISR, CNN models) and EO data enables near-real-time insights that can be scaled across Europe. The project exemplifies how EO and advanced analytics can inform the green transition at multiple scales, supporting data-driven actions for a sustainable future.
