BEPS-IA (Bloom Event Prediction by Satellite Images Analysis)
Innovative Forecasting for Water Resource Management
The purpose of the Bloom Event Prediction by Satellite Images Analysis project is to reduce potential health concerns related to cyanobacteria blooms and help water managers manage water resources more effectively by using satellite photography. ESA chose WaterShed Monitoring Europe, a micro-enterprise with experience in managing water quality data, and Scalian, an engineering consulting firm that specializes in Artificial Intelligence (AI) solutions, with the help of the Centre National D'Etudes Spatiales (CNES). Together, they have created a cutting-edge forecasting tool that will be useful to a range of stakeholders, such as managers of drinking water, coastal authorities, and agricultural networks. The project intends to develop a solution that can be scaled from local to global levels.
