Outreach: Training and Educational Initiatives
Providing training in the areas of Clean Space activities
Clean Space regularly hosts training sessions for students and industry, promoting sustainable practices in space. In particular, three means have been developed for this purpose: the Life Cycle Perception board game, the Life Cycle Assessment and Eco-design for Space Missions course and the Clean Space Training Course. The first is a board game that aims to enhance the awareness of the players about the most polluting phases of space missions and the various indices that can be used to measure the environmental impact of a mission. The second is a two-day training that helps participants familiarise themselves with environmental Life Cycle Assessment and eco-design concepts and learn how these methodologies can be implemented in the space sector. The last is a one-week intensive training aimed at university students (Master and PhD). The course is focused on cutting-edge technologies and techniques to design a satellite which will not generate more debris, that will remove the ones already in orbit and that will be environmentally friendly.
