Big data applications to boost preparedness and response to migration
In 2017, the number of international migrants was estimated at 258 million. The ESA-backed Migration Radar 2.0 project provides accurate forecasting of migration flows based on the use and analysis of big data sources.

The vision of Migration Radar 2.0 services is to provide stakeholders with a more accurate forecasting of migration flows, by coordinating the alignment of information provisioning harnessed from existing migration related data sources with innovative insights from big data sources. The services revolve around the use and analysis of the following big data sources: Social Media Analytics; Earth Observation Analytics; Population Analytics; Early Warning System.
