CropHype
Improving Crop Detection based on Hyperspectral EnMAP data using Geo Engine
CropHype aims at making intensive use of the new hyperspectral data from the German EnMAP mission. The fusion of multi-spectral (Sentinel-2) and hyperspectral (EnMAP) data will be used to develop a significantly improved classification of smallholder crops for different phenological phases with the help of machine learning methods. As smallholder farms are a central pillar of local food security in sub-Sahara Africa and climate and environmental change are increasingly threatening their yields, the livelihoods of smallholder farmers are highly endangered. An important element in reducing poverty and adapting to climate change is therefore to sustainably improve and secure the yield situation.
