Smart Social and Healthcare Advanced Services with Smart TV and Satellite Communications

The SmartSatCare is aimed at deploying a TV set top box based devices in patients home which connect to a satellite internet terminal to bridge the digital divide in the small villages of the Piedmont region. The box allows patients to watch informative videos, get up to date factual medical information and participate in videoconference sessions with carers and medical staff. Simple healthcare devices e.g. blood pressure monitors can be connected to the box via Bluetooth.
