Navigation of ageing population in public infrastructures

The NAPPI project aims at promoting external-home mobility of elderly people by providing more support in a new and innovative way so that elderly people have the ability to remain mobile. With the centimetre localisation precision and tailored man-machine interaction model, NAPPI aims to provide a novel solution to reliable autonomous navigation of elderly in public infrastructures. Main end-users of the service are elderly people (around and above 70 years of age). The customer segments targeted by the service are: exhibition/trade fairs, hospital and nursing homes. The NAPPI navigation solution utilises GNSS positioning, acoustic, and inertial sensor based positioning to provide a combined high precision navigation service in indoor and outdoor environments.
