Integrated applications for microgrids in developing economies

The Village Data Analytics service aims at providing governments, development finance institutions, investors, solar home system companies and micro-grid developers with relevant information allowing them to better plan and implement their electrification projects. The service uses earth observation, big data and machine learning in order to extract meaningful information about the size of the communities, the level of access to electricity as well as their socio-economic health, which allow users to better characterise remote communities in developing countries and therefore allow them to develop wealth, economic and agricultural activities. Main users are governments and development financial institutions, micro-grid developers, off-grid energy product companies, and investors who are looking for financially viable energy access projects. The service uses Earth Observation data that allows to offer affordable services to the emerging micro-grid sector in developing countries in an up-to-date manner and to detect changes in rural communities and monitor vegetation vitality.
