Global transparency of agricultural crop production
In India, 70% of rural households depend primarily on agriculture for their livelihood, with 82% of farmers being small and marginal. The ESA-backed AG|knowledge 4.0 project uses remote sensing satellite data from Copernicus, weather satellites and GNSS technologies to provide integrated analytical services and indicators for agricultural risk monitoring.

Ag|knowledge 4.0 is an online platform that aims to provide integrated analytical services and indicators for agricultural risk monitoring. It enables various players in the food security business chain to use satellite services within their local context, deriving higher level economic variables and perform knowledge distribution. The product targets all the relevant stakeholders within the agricultural production sector such as commercial producers, subsistence farmers, buyers and processors, input suppliers, insurance companies, banks and governments. The project targets emerging economies with a particular focus on India. The service uses open remote sensing satellite data originating from Copernicus, weather satellites and GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) technologies providing objective and updated information at low costs.
